The proposed visiting hours for the Obstetric (Maternity) unit at Mediclinic Kloof are from 15:00 to 17:00, to ensure patient safety and sufficient rest[1].
For non-COVID patients in all wards, one visitor at a time is allowed between 10:00 and 20:00; however, visiting should preferably take place during the recommended times above for the best patient experience[1].
The maternity unit specifically allows a daily visit by the patient’s partner, who may preferably stay in the patient’s room[1].
Exceptions include special units:
- NICU and Paediatric ICU: Only parents, one at a time, at the bedside.
- ICU and High Care: One visitor daily between 15:00 and 16:00; other visits by arrangement.
- COVID-positive and critically ill patients: Restricted visitation between 15:00 and 16:00, with visits arranged with management and the treating doctor.
- Immediate end-of-life visits: Can be arranged at any time.
Visitors must always wear a face mask, maintain social distancing and hand hygiene, and use communal restrooms rather than patient bathrooms[1].
