Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) has returned to 24-hour visiting hours with some specific guidelines and exceptions[1][7][8]:
- Two visitors per patient are allowed between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m.
- One visitor (must be over the age of 16) per patient is permitted between 9 p.m. and 8 a.m.
- For palliative patients, there are no limitations on visiting hours or number of visitors, at the discretion of the care team.
- The Atrium entrance must be used for entry/exit between 9 p.m. and 8 a.m.
- Visitors may be asked by the care team to leave at any time.
Specific unit exceptions include:
- Child and Youth Mental Health: 4 – 8 p.m.
- Adult Mental Health: Monday to Friday 4 – 8 p.m.; weekends 9 a.m. – 8 p.m.
- Intensive Care Unit (ICU): 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. (palliative exceptions apply)
- Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU): 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. (parents/caregivers with an armband may stay 24 hours)
- Paediatrics: 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. (one caregiver may sleep overnight)
- Emergency Department: One visitor or support person allowed at all times.
Anyone visiting between 9 p.m. and 8 a.m. should enter and exit through the Atrium entrance. In all cases, visitors must comply with infection prevention and control (IPAC) policies, and the care team can request visitors leave at any time[7].
