Silver Cross Hospital Visiting Hours

General visiting hours at Silver Cross Hospital are from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. for all units. All visitors must be ages 12 years and older, with noted exceptions for specific units such as Outpatient Services, the NICU, and Labor/Delivery and Mother/Baby Units[7].

  • Adult Inpatient Nursing Units: Up to four visitors (12 years and older) are allowed in a patient’s room at any given time. Visitors may switch out during the day[5][7][8].
  • Intensive Care Unit (ICU) & Cardiovascular Unit (CVU): Two to four visitors (12 years and older) are permitted at the bedside, depending on the patient condition and nurse discretion[5].
  • Pediatric Inpatients: Each patient may have up to four visitors 12 years and older at one time. One parent may spend the night[7].
  • Labor and Delivery: Visitation is permitted at all times. The Mother-Baby Unit follows normal visiting hours, with one overnight visitor allowed[5].
  • Emergency Department: Patients without COVID-19 may have two visitors (12 years and older) in the ER waiting room. More visitors may be permitted in special circumstances[7].
  • PCU/Outpatient Services: Two (PCU) or four (outpatient testing) visitors (12 years and older) are allowed in designated waiting areas[7].
  • COVID-19 Inpatients: One visitor at a time, 18 years and older, who must screen negative for COVID-19 and remain masked[5].

Visitors may bring food and drinks into patient rooms for most units, but should consult the healthcare team beforehand to ensure dietary safety. Children under the age of 14 may not be left unattended at any time[7].
