Netcare hospital visiting hours are set by each hospital, and often by each ward, rather than by one group-wide timetable. Netcare’s patient information says visiting times, restrictions and resting times differ between hospitals and wards, and each hospital page on netcare.co.za lists its own unit times. Find a Netcare Hospital

Search by hospital name or town. Some Netcare hospitals do not carry the town name: Netcare Unitas Hospital is in Centurion, Netcare Pholoso Hospital is in Polokwane, Netcare The Bay Hospital is in Richards Bay and Netcare Alberlito Hospital is in Ballito. General Visitor Policy

Netcare does not publish a single set of visiting hours for all its hospitals. Its “Hospital stay” page asks visitors not to visit during a ward’s official resting period and to check the hospital’s own web page, the ward notice board or the unit manager for details.

When we checked the visitor information on the individual hospital pages, almost all of them used the same wording: two visitors per patient at any given time during visiting hours, no children under 12 unless otherwise stipulated, no eating or drinking in the wards, and cellphones on vibrate or silent. The actual times differ. These examples show how much:

ICU, Maternity & Special Unit Visits

ICU and high care

For Netcare ICU visiting hours, Netcare’s group guidance says only two visitors at a time may see a patient in intensive care, and it asks that only immediate family visit. Children under 12 may not visit intensive or high care units. Visitors must get permission from ICU staff, tell staff when they enter, and may be asked to leave during nursing procedures. No flowers are allowed in ICU. Times vary: see the table above, and our ICU visiting hours and high care visiting hours guides.

Maternity

For Netcare maternity visiting hours, Netcare tells expectant mothers to check the web page of the hospital where they will give birth, or contact its maternity unit, for maternity visiting times. Examples: Netcare Unitas Hospital allows a birth partner from 07:45–19:45, Netcare Pholoso Hospital lists 08:00–20:00 for its maternity ward, and Netcare St Augustine’s Hospital allows the birth partner at any time. Paediatrics and NICU

Netcare’s group page says children under 12 may not visit paediatric patients. Hospital pages such as Netcare Unitas and Netcare St Augustine’s say one parent or primary caregiver may stay with the child. Neonatal ICU rules differ widely: Netcare Christiaan Barnard Memorial lists NICU visiting for parents from 08:00–18:45, while Netcare St Augustine’s lists its NICU as visits by request only. Weekend & Public Holiday Visiting

Netcare visiting hours on the hospital pages are listed for each day of the week and for public holidays. In most wards we checked, the times were the same every day, including public holidays. There are exceptions: Netcare Jakaranda Hospital’s Ward 2A lists 18:00–19:00 on weekdays but 15:00–16:00 and 19:15–20:00 on weekends and public holidays, and Netcare Krugersdorp Hospital’s neonatal ICU shows no public holiday times. Visitor Rules

Netcare’s group “Hospital stay” page and its hospital pages set out these rules:

  • Two visitors per patient at a time during visiting hours, as listed on most hospital pages.
  • No children under 12 in paediatric wards, ICU or high care. Some hospitals set their own exceptions, for example Netcare uMhlanga Hospital, which allows children under 12 in maternity.
  • No eating or drinking in the wards, and cellphones on vibrate or silent.
  • No pets in Netcare hospitals and no flowers in ICU.
  • Wash or sanitise your hands before and after visiting, and follow infection control measures. Netcare Milpark Hospital allows only one visitor, wearing the required PPE, for infectious patients.

How to Confirm Current Visiting Hours

  • Open the hospital’s page on netcare.co.za and select the visitor information tab. This is the most current source for Netcare visiting hours in 2026, with times shown per ward and per day.
  • Find the patient’s ward or unit. Large hospitals such as Netcare Milpark list more than 20 units, each with its own row.
  • Ignore old notices. Netcare visiting PDFs from 2021 and 2022, including a Netcare Greenacres notice dated April 2022, are still online but may not be current.
  • Check the ward notice board or speak to the unit manager, as Netcare advises, especially for ICU, NICU or a patient in isolation.
